I'm one of the hundreds of thousands of women who married military man. But I like to think I'm the luckiest. I met my husband days after we both turned 16 and married him 8 1/2 years later. It was a long distance journey filled with late night phone calls, red eye flights, weekends that never lasted long enough, tears, deployments, homecomings, laughter, and learning. I wouldn't trade it or where we've come since then for the world. The military isn't for everyone, but it's certainly right for us. We're at J's first duty station...that he happened to stay at for almost 9 years (aside from 3 deployments)...and counting the days until our first PCS move. It will take us back across the country (with two dogs, instead of one, in tow this time around), closer to home, family, beaches, and sunny skies. Whoever you said you can't go home again was CLEARLY mistaken.
