Matthew Pothoff, a resident of Dubuque County, has built a life centered around his passion for sports, history, and personal growth. Raised in Epworth, Iowa, he developed a love for sports early in life, with baseball being his primary focus. He played baseball until the age of 19, and throughout his high school years, he also participated in football, basketball, and tennis. These sports helped him develop a strong sense of teamwork, discipline, and resilience, which continue to shape his approach to his personal and professional life. He remains an avid supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, and Cleveland Cavaliers, continuing his lifelong connection to sports. Matthew works as a Paint Line Laborer in a metal fabrication company, where his role involves applying coatings to metal products. This position requires great precision and attention to detail, qualities he has honed over the years. Before working in metal fabrication, he gained valuable hands-on experience in the automotive industry from May 2016 to August 2018. This experience helped him build his teamwork skills and develop an appreciation for collaboration, which continues to serve him well in his current position. Matthew's educational journey at Hawkeye Community College, where he studied Criminal Justice, helped him deepen his understanding of ethics and responsibility. His academic background reinforced his commitment to fairness and integrity, guiding his personal and professional decisions. He approaches his work and interactions with others through a lens of accountability, ensuring that his actions align with his strong moral compass. His interest in military history extends beyond firearms, as he enjoys studying the strategies and tactics used in past conflicts, enriching his understanding of global history. Matthew also enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly hunting and camping.
