I worked for Oracle from February of 1996 through November of 2005. For most of that time, I developed and advanced Oracle’s Procurement Applications. In 1998, I threw out Oracle’s awful Application Server and became the first in Oracle to use raw Apache/JServ instead. In 2000, I delivered Oracle’s first multi-tenant hosted solution, Oracle Exchange. From 2002 – 2005, I was Vice President of Oracle’s Procurement Applications. I directed Oracle’s procurement investments and ran product strategy, product development, and quality assurance across 7 products: Exchange, Purchasing, iProcurement, iSupplier Portal, Sourcing, Services Procurement, and Procurement Contracts. In my last year in Procurement I grew license 45% in a 6% growth market. I enjoyed Oracle but felt something was missing – we weren’t able to innovate fast enough or solve customer’s problem well enough. I was tired of building products that didn’t delight customers. So now I’m a beach bum :) living in Half Moon Bay and taking time to ponder what’s next.
