Prof. Dr. Bala

Manonmaniam Sundaranar University awarded me a Ph.D. (information technology-computer science (interdisciplinary) in September 2016. Allahabad-Agricultural Deemed University awarded me an M.Tech. (information technology) in 2005. Bharathidasan University awarded me an M.S. (information technology) in 2002 and a B.Sc. (computer science) in 2000. I started my teaching career in 2002. I am currently working as a faculty member in information technology at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Shinas, Oman. Earlier, I worked at Mekelle University in Ethiopia, Kings College of Engineering in India, and Sami Arul College in India. I have a total of 34 publications, including peer-reviewed technical research papers in journals (21 articles), conferences (11 articles), a textbook (1 book) entitled An Introduction to Parallel and Distributed Computing Through Java, and a thesis entitled Parallel programming model implementations through Java. I have volunteered to be a professional member of distinct institutions, an editorial review member of 11 diverse journals and conferences, and I have reviewed more than 30 research papers. I have supervised 36 student course projects and 22 student research projects. I have evaluated PhD theses and served as an undergraduate practical external examiner, project panel leader, and member. I have completed 26 free courses from various online learning platforms, attended 16 workshops and faculty development program, and attended more than 70 trainings, seminars, and webinars. My teaching interests included object-oriented programming, network programming, graphical user interfaces, web apps, databases, and cloud computing as well. Data analysis, parallel and distributed computing, and web and Android mobile apps are my research interests. I have experience with Windows and Ubuntu. Computer programming languages include Java (JavaFx/FxML, Jakarta Faces/Hibernate, TCP/IP, RMI), Python (analysis/visualization), cryptography, cloud computing with OCI and AWS, databases with Oracle SQL and MongoDB Atlas, and software tools including MS Office, ZAP, and Web Goat. I have served as chairperson, coordinator, and member of various committees, including institutional internal evaluation, IT Department QA, OJT assessor, student mentor, unit human resource support services, staff professional development, curriculum design and review, interview panel, research and community services, placement cell, and examination. I have provided several trainings, workshops, and tech talks to working professionals and students.
