I have been creating stories since before I could write them down. (Seriously, I remember drawing them out, panel by panel, on loose scraps of paper or on the inside covers of coloring books.) I still enjoy stories that combine printed and visual text–think graphic novels or manga. As an English major in college, I somehow missed out on studying a lot of the classic, but was able to delve deeply into books off the beaten path. I can’t say I’m well informed on Dickens or Austen, but I could tell you a lot about what’s happening with young adult literature today, especially in the fantasy genre. My goal is to produce stories that mean something to the people who read them.
