Im a parent whos daughter started as a freshman at Penn State Hazleton. Her living situation was less than ideal and the "rules" of Melrose Place Apartments were never enforced which would have made the difference. This place is much more expensive to rent but with all the "perks" that seemed to guarantee a safe and positive environment we were willing to scrape it together. If we had it to again she would have rented a private house with other roomies in a neighborhood where activities that were common to Melrose would have met many complaints from neighbors and Im sure would have not been accepted. I want to get the word out to parents so they will not loose the money we did (they have a pretty iron clad contract to protect themselves from anything ... literally... even ignoring the situation although it was obvious in front of them). We will also have to go to court for our deposit as it has been over 30 days since the keys were turned in and we haven't heard from them or received a check.. which is NOT allowed by law. We also plan on asking for the fee we had to pay for stickered parking since we were told if we didnt she would be towed.. only to be told they had no towing contract at that time. Parents need to inform each other so others will not be taken advantage of.
